Brief
introduction
There had been no independent organizational
system from the beginning of history to1953. Southern Tianjin Suburbs were set
up only on May 14 1953, then on June 17,1955 it was renamed Northern Suburbs District.
On October 10, 1958 the district organization was repealed and on February first
1962 it resumed again. On March 1992, its name changed into Beichen District.
Location
Beichen
District is situated on the north of Tianjin city, alongside the bank of North
Canal. It is next to the drainage river of Beijing and Ninghe County in the east,
and the boundary line extends 20.66kms; The southern part is separated with Dongli
District by the Golden-bell Bridge and Xinkai river, and the boundary line stretches
22.9kms.The southern part connects with Hebei District and Hongqiao District,
and the boundary line is still under survey; The southeast region is bounded by
Ziya river and Xiqing District, and the boundary line extends 27.5kms; The west
and north region both join with Wuqing county, and the boundary line stretches
25.14kms. The width from north to south is 20.8kms, and the narrowest part is
the region between southern part of Liutan village and northwest part of Liuma
village which is 14.4kms; the length from east to west is 43.2kms, and the widest
is the region between eastern part of Dongtitou village to the western part of
Xianhe village. The total land area is 478.48 square kilometers.
The district
government stationed at Beicang town, Taking district government as the starting
point, the district reaches Dongditou bridge by going 29.15kms eastwards(by way
of Tianjin-Yulin highway) or 35.65kms (by way of Golden-bell bridge), 73kms to
Lutai town in Ninghe county; It is 13.7kms to go to Xinkai bridge bordering Dongli
District on southeast (by way of Xinyibai Road), 30kms to Zhangguizhuang town
in Dongli District, 26.3kms to International Airport of Tianjin, 72kms to the
New Port of Tianjin, 5.19kms to Qinjian Bridge bordering the city center on the
south (by way of Jingjin Road), 15.1kms to the city hall of Tianjin,31kms northwest
to Yangliuqing town in Xiqing District on the southwest, 26.1kms westward to the
west of He village bordering Wuqing county (by way of Tianjin-Bazhou highway),11.1kms
northward to north of Xiaojie village bordering Wuqing county (by way of Beijing-Tianjin
highway),18kms to Yang village in Wuqing county, 110kms to Beijing, 24.75kms to
Wuqing county on the northeast (by way of Tianjin-wei highway), 65kms to Chengguan
town in Baodi county, 109kms to Chengguan town in Ji county.
AREA
On
May 14, 1953 the Southern Tianjin Suburbs, which used to cover the third and the
fourth district of the former Tianjin County in former Tianjin city now consisting
of 73 natural villages were founded. |
