I Brief Introduction

The agricultural work of Beichen District, leaded by the Party Committee of Beichen District and the Government of Beichen District, aiming at increasing the income of farmers, focusing on pushing forward the industrial management of agriculture, preserving in the direction of developing high-quality, efficient, export-oriented agriculture, speeding up the structural readjustments of agriculture, has made new breakthroughs in flagship enterprises, breeding grounds and the construction of organization of social services, which promote the level of the agricultural industrialization and contribute to the rural stability, increasing agricultural efficency, raising farmer income. In 2003, total area of farmland is 277 thousand mu, comprising 47 thousand mu of vegetables, 26 thousand mu of orchards, 31 thousand mu of woods land, and 36 thousand mu of fish ponds. The gross added value reach 535 million RMB, which has increased 5.5% comparing to that of last year.

II Structural Readjustments

Our district has carried out structural readjustments of agriculture and has gained initial success. In 2003, the area of cash crop took 61% of the total arable area, the output value of the livestock husbandry hold 60.2% of the output value of agriculture and the farmers joining in the industrialization system attain 61%. We make good use of advantages, and the livestock husbandry and aquaculture in our district evolve fast. The scale of the livestock husbandry and aquaculture bases expands continuously, in 2003 there were 16 thousand cows, 60 thousand tons of output of milk products, 205 thousand pigs on the hoof, 196 thousand mutton sheep, 17 thousand beef cattle, 6.15 million table chicken and 12 thousand tons of aquatic products. We have completed 56 livestock husbandry and aquaculture breedingrounds. We have made breakthrough in flagship corporation that processes downstream farm products, and Tianjin Bright and Mengde Dairy Limited Corporation, Tianjin Aige Bio-Chemical Limited Corporation, Tianjin Ocean Industry Development Limited Corporation, and TianjinYida Feed Limited Corporation have been listed in the city-class corporations. The standardized production of agriculture is flouring and 10200 mu unpolluted vegetables base have been built up; Ten cow breeding-grounds, five aquaculture bases, 16 husbandry breeding-grounds and one mechanized pig slaughterhouse have pass municipal No-Public-Pollution authentication. The Xianhe Cow Breeding-ground is chosen as Cow Breeding-ground Model Base in Tianjin and notified as Ministry-level Advanced Model Breeding-ground by the Ministry of Agriculture, the farm products produced by TianjinYida Aquaculture Limited Corporation pass national No-Public-Pollution authentication.
