A man in Jimo, Shandong, feels wracked with guilt after his wife announced she would divorce him after his dog betrayed him by finding money he had hidden and chewing it to bits.
Liu, in his 60s, hid 1,000 yuan ($128) he had earned playing mahjong in his home in a bid to conceal it from his wife, surnamed Zhang, who controlled the family's finances tightly. Last Sunday Zhang spotted the dog gnawing something and was surprised to find pieces of banknotes on the floor. Liu rescued only 300 yuan ($37) from the dog's mouth. Questioned by Zhang, Liu had to admit what he did.
