An elderly woman has filed a lawsuit against her neighbor, claiming his dog caused her to have a heart attack, in Haikou, Hainan Province.

    The woman, Li, is seeking compensation of 4,000 yuan (US$511) from her neighbor, Fan, after she opened her door early on Tuesday morning and was barked at by Fan's big dog.

    Li fell to the ground in fright and had a heart attack. She was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.

    A local court will hold a public hearing.
